While Bishop Lucas of Tuy has been best remembered over the centuries as the author of the Chronicon Mundi (“Chronicle of the World”) that contributed to Spanish historiography, the apocalyptic work that is dubbed the “Vision of John the Hermit’”(from Asturias) sheds light on some aspects of Lucas’ ecclesiastical career in León prior to his being elected bishop of Tuy in 1239.
