In addition to the issue of trying to integrate the areas held by the U.S.-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the new Syrian state (with the production of an official agreement that appears to suggest notable concessions by the SDF but is likely to be a drawn-out process with finer details still requiring to be hammered out), the central government is also facing an issue of how to integrate the primarily Druze province of al-Suwayda’ in the south.
