The Current Situation in Qalb Lawze: Interview
I have mentioned Qalb Lawze- an originally Druze village located in the Jabal al-Summaq area of north Idlib countryside- many times in my writings. I continue to take an interest in the services and humanitarian situation in the village. Below is an interview I conducted yesterday with a resident of Qalb Lawze who wishes to remain anonymous.
Q: Currently what is the number of inhabitants in Qalb Lawze? And how is the services and humanitarian situation in general?
A: There are around 1500 people currently and perhaps more: original inhabitants with displaced people. The services and humanitarian situation is average. There is provision of aid from the GOAL NGO, and other aid from the Salvation Government’s Ministry of Development. They meet half of the sufficiency needs of the citizen. There is no work besides cutting of work for the youth from the original inhabitants of the village. And this does not meet needs well, but things are okay, by which I mean securing the price of bread only.
