I am writing a general history of the Middle Ages -- probably for my own amusement since my health is poor and I may not finish it -- and running across your translation reminded me of what I thought in the 80s. Hydatius and Eugippius' Life of Severinus ought to be central texts in any account of the 5th century. They instead are pretty much ignored. Your contribution may help correct this sad situation. Or maybe not, historiographical prejudices are hard to uproot.
