The contingent of French ‘muhajirin’ (‘migrants’) located in a camp in the Harem area of northern Idlib near the border with Turkey, led by one Omar Omsen, is known for its ideological opposition to the current Syrian government for reasons such as the government’s partnership with the United States in the realm of counter-terrorism (i.e. opposition to the idea of aligning with ‘disbelievers’ against other Muslims) and not ruling solely on the basis of Islamic law. Aligned with this contingent of French muhajirin are some Uzbek muhajirin who adopt a similar position on the Syrian government.
