Reviews of my Translation and Study of Fath al-Andalus
Two academic journals have recently published positive reviews of my English translation and study of the medieval Arabic text Fath al-Andalus (“The Conquest of al-Andalus”), published by Routledge in March of this year. Both reviews praise the work for offering a highly readable introduction to the text and translation of it, making it of value both to academic and non-academic readers. One review was published in the Medieval Review and is written by Janina Safran, associate professor of history at Penn State University and a specialist on al-Andalus: it can be accessed for free here. The second review, published in the journal Al-Masāq, is written by independent scholar Ann Christys, who wrote a book study on Christians under Muslim rule in Iberia in the period 711-1100. It can be accessed below by paying subscribers.
A reminder that my translation and study of Fath al-Andalus is available for purchase here in both hardback and e-book formats.
