Personal Poetry: A Collection
Somewhat inspired by the amusing collection of poems entitled ‘Rhymes of Iraq’ from the era of Mandate Iraq, I present- primarily for the amusement of readers- a collection of my own silly short poems- a collection that I may expand with time. I do not remotely pretend that these poems have any real literary value, but those who know me and my experiences in particular might find them funny and cheesy.

a) A Descent Into Madness About COVID
On Telegram I talk with ‘Un Monstruo.’
Unfortunately, he’s hit a new low.
He incessantly rants about COVID,
Spouting nonsense as though he were a kid.
I try to talk him back to his senses,
But I cannot mend his mental fences
Indeed, his madness has now been unleashed.
His restraints of sanity have been breached
Of the situation I now take stock,
And thus for his account I must press block.
This is how our friendship goes down the drain,
Washed away into the sewers like rain.
(For further context, see here, and with apologies to a former friend who once went by the name of ‘Un Monstruo’ on Facebook).
