New Journal Article: On the Twelver Shiite Villages of Nubl and al-Zahara' in North Aleppo Countryside
Adaptation in the Post-Assad Order
I have a new journal article published in the Middle East Quarterly, based on extensive fieldwork, examining the villages of Nubl and al-Zahara’ in north Aleppo countryside, which constitute an isolated pocket of Twelver Shiism in the area. The article considers how these two villages have adapted to the post-Assad, Sunni-led order. The article includes exclusive photos and should hopefully provide some nuanced understanding of the status of minorities under the new order in Syria.
