Islamic State Operations in 2025: Infographic Overview
Although Wall Street Journal writer Yaroslav Trofimov recently penned a piece suggesting that jihadism in general is going into decline, it would be more accurate to see a shift in the geographic epicentre of jihadist activity. Certainly, the Islamic State is far removed from the pinnacle of its success when it controlled territory spanning the borders of Iraq and Syria, but the group places great propaganda value on the ongoing activities of its affiliates in Africa in particular, which has generally seen a rise in jihadist activity in recent years.
