Archive: The 'Martyrs' of the 'Harakat Muhajireen Ahl Sunnat Iran' in Syria
A number of foreign fighter groups are aligned with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the dominant insurgent faction in northwest Syria that broke ties with al-Qa’ida. These foreign fighters are either organisationally independent and allies of HTS (the most prominent example being the Turkestan Islamic Party) or are integrated into the group’s ranks (e.g. the Uzbek-led Katibat al-Tawhid wa al-Jihad). The ‘Harakat Muhajireen Ahl Sunnat Iran’ (‘Movement of the Muhajireen of the Sunnis of Iran’) is an Iranian Sunni-led group that claims to have allegiance (bay’a) to HTS. In this post I provide an archive of the group’s claimed ‘martyrs’ over the years. Based on the data of ‘martyrs,’ the group’s ranks primarily seem to be composed of ethnic Kurds and Baluchis.
