Archive: Military Responses by 'Axis of Resistance' Actors in the New U.S./Israel-Iran War

For Iran, the various armed groups identified as being part of the ‘axis of resistance’ have not only been a means for Iran to project influence in various theatres across the region, but were also partly intended as a form of ‘forward defence’ intended to deter the U.S., Israel and other potentially hostile actors. While the ‘deterrence’ model has largely collapsed (most notably with Israel’s swift defeat of Hezbollah in late 2024 and the multiple attacks on Iran itself), the ‘axis of resistance’ groups can still try to inflict damage in this war in a bid to make the cost too high for the U.S. and Israel and force negotiations for a ceasefire. The following post will compile and analyse statements of military responses by various ‘axis of resistance’ groups.
