A Sectarian Killing in Aleppo?
Media coverage of killings on a sectarian basis in Syria tends to focus on reports of massacres: most notably, the massacres of Alawites that took place in the coastal region in March as Syrian government forces cracked down on an Alawite insurgency that launched a large-scale attack on government positions in the region. Those massacres have now been the subject of considerable investigative journalism, with Reuters putting the death toll at around 1500 Alawites.
However, there are also multiple reports of killings of individuals on a sectarian basis, though verification of the exact details is often not easy. A recent example I have seen comes from the area of Aleppo city, where an individual called Adnan Osama Zam was killed.
